Meet the Owner: Derek White
Owner and CEO Derek White started the company in 2011 putting to use a decade of electrical experience he had accumulated with Seattle City Light and private firms. Derek started as an apprentice, then journeyman electrician, and has been certified as a solar PV design and installation professional. Most recently, he became a Master Electrician. Derek built the company from scratch based on his experience, knowledge and passion for superior customer service and solar energy. When Derek first began his venture into solar, he knew it was a match made in heaven. Derek will tell anyone he can about the benefits of going solar, which he can speak of first hand having gone solar on both his business and home. “I have found another love in my trade … free electricity from the sun!”
Derek is responsible for setting the standard of excellence here at NWES, ensuring that our teams build system better than “to code” by using the best, not simply adequate, methods and products in all our projects. Not one to sit back and wait for the industry to keep up with where he thinks it should be, Derek has built strong relationships with the local jurisdictions and utilities. He’s held multiple classes at our offices teaching inspectors and utility professionals about the latest advances in technology, particularly his knowledge of interconnection of Tesla’s Powerwall battery system.
Derek grew up in Kirkland and now lives with his wife and three children in a solar-powered home not far from the office. “I have always had a passion for my work and take great pride in what I do. I seek long-lasting relationships with customers, contractors and inspectors.“
As an electrician and solar installer, Derek says NWES can get your project completed as quickly as possible while delivering the highest quality final product and experience. We can help improve your site’s energy efficiency by finding ways to reduce the usage of watts to lower your electric bills, help you go green, and achieve your goals of energy independence. In appreciation of our customers, NWES selected Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center in Redmond to receive a donated solar system which will inspire future fundraising campaigns to help Little Bit get to net zero electricity. Read the Redmond Reporter news coverage.
